Glen Ellyn Park District To Host Preschool Open Houses On Jan. 30 & Jan. 31

Choosing a preschool for your child involves researching your options and making a decision that works best for your family. The Glen Ellyn Park District offers a Preschool Education Program for children ages 2 ½ through 6, combining a variety of experiences and media to help students explore and develop their skills in the areas of vocabulary, reading and writing, math, and science.

A curriculum that balances academics with play activities helps children develop problem-solving skills, social awareness, and other cognitive abilities, with the ultimate goal of becoming Kindergarten-ready.

The preschool daily schedule includes teacher-guided activities, along with both large and small group activities centered around a weekly theme. "Our students participate in fine and large motor skill activities, including art projects and dramatic play," said Jeannie Robinson, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation Services for the Glen Ellyn Park District. "They participate in music, cooking, and writing. They even have monthly visits from B#Sharp Music for Children and Renae Frigo, our Naturalist."

In order to provide parents and their children with the information they need to select an outstanding preschool, the Glen Ellyn Park District is holding two Open Houses so that visitors can meet with teachers, tour the classrooms, and obtain registration information. "We want parents and children to be informed about our program," added Robinson. "At our Open House events, they can have all their questions answered and get a good feel for the wonderful preschool experience the Glen Ellyn Park District provides. We encourage potential students to attend the events with their parents."
