Man, 79, Struck By Car In Placentia Dies

PLACENTIA – A 79-year-old man succumbed to his injuries Saturday at a local hospital five days after he was struck by a vehicle, police said.

The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Ignacio Rivera of Placentia.

Around 5:30 p.m. Monday, Rivera was struck by a vehicle while crossing Alta Vista Street at Jasmine Circle outside of a crosswalk , said Placentia police Sgt. Adam Gloe.

He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died from his injuries at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Gloe said.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, Gloe said, adding that DUI was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
