Three boys from northeast Mississippi have been charged with murder after a 70-year-old man was found shot dead.
Henry Adams Jr's body was found outside his home in South Second Street, Baldwyn, on October 23 at around 1.40pm. He had been shot twice in the chest and his wallet was lying nearby, the Daily Journal reported.
Quindaris Burress, 13; Dequan M. Stribling, 13; and Jayce Bryson West, 14, were all arrested on Friday and charged with capital murder.
Charged: Dequan M. Stribling (left), 13, and Quindaris Burress (right), 13, have been charged with capital murder in the October death of a 70-year-old man in Baldwyn, Mississippi
Trial: Jayce Bryson West (pictured), 14, was the third boy charged in the death of Henry Adams Jr, 70. Under state felony laws, they are being charged as adults but will not face execution
Burress lives on the same street as Adams.
Under Mississippi law, anyone aged 13 or older can be charged in the circuit court as an adult if they are believed to have committed a felony.
However, following a ruling by the Supreme Court in 2005, they cannot be sentenced to death.
And the circuit court may decide to send the suspects to juvenile court following a hearing.
All three suspects are being held in jail on $1 million bond; they are being held separately from one another because they have been charged with the same crime.
'Under state law, they are considered adults and we treat them no differently than any other prisoner,' Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said.
'Since these three are all charged with the same crime, they are being segregated, but it is not because of their ages.'
